Oral Hygiene

The daily practice of oral hygiene is essential for the health of teeth and gums, as it prevents the formation of plaque and its mineralization into tartar.

At first glance, the surface of the teeth appears smooth, but in reality, it has roughness on which bacteria nest and proliferate, forming a layer of plaque. Only a deep cleaning can remove it and prevent it from turning into tartar that can only be removed by the dentist.

We recommend this cleaning session at least once a year, more frequently in patients who tend to accumulate a lot of tartar. Generally, except for a few cases, it does not require anesthesia and can even be performed in two sessions (in sensitive patients, one arch at a time).

In our clinic, we perform PROPHYLAXIS (Dental Hygiene) with manual and/or ultrasonic instruments and with sodium bicarbonate jets (PROPHYFLEX). This allows us to remove dental stains without scratching or wearing down the enamel, thanks to its spherical particles that enter these enamel roughnesses, eliminating stains from coffee, tea, wine, tobacco, etc.
