How long does the treatment with invisible orthodontics last?
Average duration.
The duration of the treatment will depend on the dental malocclusion that we must correct (crowding, separated teeth, overbite, crossbite, open bite), our physical and genetic characteristics, and how well we follow the specialist’s guidelines and comply with the established hours of use of the splints. (22 hours a day)
But so that you can get an idea of the average duration of most treatments, it usually lasts between 10 and 18 months, but we can find cases of mild malocclusions that are solved in 6 months and cases of great complexity that can be extended for more than 2 years.
Invisible orthodontics, disadvantages.
It cannot be used in all orthodontic treatments, although it can be used in a large majority.
Requires willpower, commitment, and seriousness on the part of the patient. If you are not sure about meeting the objectives, it may be better to opt for Brackets.
It costs a little more than metal or ceramic Brackets.
What your Invisalign or
Spark treatment will be like from beginning to end.
Treatment phases in DOR.
1. In a first appointment, your oral health status is evaluated through a thorough examination. It will detect existing problems and assess whether treatment with invisible orthodontics is feasible and of what type in each case. Together with you, the objectives to be achieved with the treatment will be established.
In this first visit, all the doubts you may have are also resolved, and the budget adapted to your particular case is given.
This first visit is free.
2. In a second visit, the scanning of the oral cavity is performed; this scanning replaces the old and uncomfortable alginate molds of traditional orthodontics. It is no longer usually necessary to go through this uncomfortable process of dental impressions; instead, using a simple scanner, the entire mouth is scanned in just over 50 seconds, resulting in a 3D and digital model of the oral cavity that we will use to carry out the Invisalign or Spark treatment. This model is very useful for multiple treatments, as it increases the precision in the planning of these.
In this visit, dental and facial photographs and X-rays and CT scans are also taken, which allow the study of the treatment.
3. The specialist develops a treatment plan in which the gradual movements that will be made from the moment we meet until the end of the treatment are designed. In addition, through the software that accompanies the Invisalign and Spark invisible orthodontics systems and thanks to the dental scan, we will show you a
All the necessary information is sent to the processing center with the corresponding design technicians, and after the specialist’s planning, we proceed to the creation of the aligners following the specialist’s guidelines.
4. In a very few days, the first sets of aligners will be in our office and the treatment will begin. You must wear them throughout the day except for eating and dental cleaning (about 22 hours a day) and you will change the set of aligners, complying with the dates set in the treatment by the specialist.
Each dental aligner is designed to perform a specific movement and will move the teeth on which it exerts pressure about 0.25 mm. The next aligner will reinforce this work. Thus, continuously, we will achieve the planned result.
5. Periodic check-ups will be carried out in the dental clinic every 1 or 2 months to supervise and evaluate the progress of the process and ensure correct treatment.
6. When the treatment ends, the attachments and splints are removed, which are replaced for a time by retainers, so that the teeth can be fixed in this new and optimal position.
On the one hand, the teeth will try to return to their original position, and on the other hand, the teeth (even if we have not had orthodontics) move throughout our lives, so we cannot ignore the importance of this stage of the treatment.
7. Enjoy a new smile; beautiful and healthy.
