The term dental prosthesis refers to an artificial tooth made by a dental laboratory with the aim of replacing one or more dental elements that have been lost or irreversibly compromised (due to caries or trauma) and thus to restore the original dentition, taking into account its functionality and aesthetics. Missing teeth can be replaced by different types of dental prostheses:
- Fixed prosthesis – (crowns or bridges)
- Removable prosthesis – (partial or total)
- Combined prosthesis – (the combination of the two types described above)
Each edentulous situation (lack of teeth) is analyzed by our specialists who, in close collaboration with the dental technician, will design the best rehabilitation solution with the utmost respect for masticatory function and aesthetics without neglecting the real needs of the patient.
Even the choice of materials is made by the rehabilitator, case by case, and recommended for each particular problem of our patients.
Fixed Prosthesis
Crowns
These are prosthetic products made individually in the laboratory, with the aim of replacing the “external” dental tissue. It is used after various problems in the oral cavity, for example, the fracture of part of a dental element, or as protection/reinforcement of a tooth after endodontic therapy. The rehabilitating element after the placement of a dental implant is also called a “crown”.
